Hi friends!
I’m launching a new round of online Emotional Surfing offerings.
Emotional Surfing is a practice of learning to enjoy riding the waves of your emotions. Instead of navigating by running away from situations that bring up challenging emotions, you become free to move towards what brings you alive, guided by your intuition, passion, and joy.
I’ll be writing more about Emotional Surfing on this Substack soon! Stay tuned!
When are the events?
They’re all on google calendar. You can either add the Emotional Surfing Calendar to your own calendar, or take a glance at the schedule.
Which event should I go to?
There are currently three kinds of events on the calendar: Solo Surfing, Pair Surfing, and Brian’s Office Hours.
Solo Surfing
Solo Surfing is the event to start with. I go over the philosophy and basic technique of Emotional Surfing. You’ll have plenty of time to practice. I’ll work with each of you individually to make sure you get a hang of the technique, and that you understand how to use it in your life and what benefits it may bring.
Each time I’m going to start out fresh and get any beginners up to speed. Once that happens we’ll dive into more details and specifics and answer questions. You’re welcome to come multiple times, and you’ll likely get value, but know that the content is going to be very similar each time.
For long or nuanced questions, Office Hours is probably a better venue.
Pair Surfing
Pair surfing is a practice of bringing emotional surfing into a peer practice. It’s somewhere between co-counseling and meditation. You and a partner will take turns exploring your emotional worlds around a topic of your choice and surfing the emotional waves that are discovered.
The prerequisite for coming to a Pair Surfing event is that you’ve already learned the Solo Surfing technique, from that event or from me in another context.
Pair Surfing is meant to be an evergreen practice. Come every week and you’ll continue to deepen and benefit. Bring a friend or meet a new one!
My hope is that you can all find a partner that you can deepen this practice with, and be available for each other as a high quality emotional support person.
If you wish you could have conversations that felt like therapy or coaching more often, and for free, this might be a great practice for you.
Brian’s Office Hours
I’m up for anything here. Whatever you want to come ask me about emotional surfing, coaching, meditation, emotions, it’s all welcome. Or come with something happening in your life that you want support around.
Anyone is welcome to come to office hours, even if you haven’t done the intro yet.
Depending on who comes and what they want, this could be anywhere from philosophical musings to deep 1:1 emotional processes.
I have a clear agenda for the Solo Surfing and Pair Surfing events, which often leaves super interesting questions and explorations untouched. I want to leave space for the emergent. Office hours is how I plan to do that.
What do these events cost?
I run these online Emotional Surfing events entirely on a donation basis. Your donation is welcome but definitely not required. Please don’t use not being sure about donating as a reason not to come. Just come.
You can donate using Stripe here, or to my venmo handle @brian-basham with a note “donation for Emotional surfing”.
